Worship at Wesley

In a lot of ways, our worship is different. It's probably not what you grew up with or what you may think of as "normal." That's okay. We actually like that. See, we think worship should be a reflection of the people who are part of Wesley and how they are experiencing God in their lives. That means it changes with the change of students, seasons, and whatever is going on in the world. Its not that we are reactionary insomuch as we are reflective of what is happening in the lives of those who call Wesley their place of worship. So, you are part of the experience!!

At its root, (at least for me) worship is an experience. It is an experience in which lives become intertwined with presence of God. It is not about awesome sermons or even amazing music that stirs our imaginations and hearts. It is about people bringing their gifts, their lives, and their experiences to the table of worship. It may be messy, it may be perfect, but it must be authentic.

I suppose if we really believed worship to be an experience encounter with God then it could happen anywhere and within any context. Our service is not about being contemporary, modern, emerging, or traditional. Our service is about experience...
